“Getting involved as a volunteer with Dunmanway Credit Union Limited.”
The credit union movement is built upon the efforts of thousands of volunteers who give freely of their time and skills to their credit unions in the spirit of cooperation. Each credit union has a team of volunteers with the skills and knowledge to lead and manage that credit union.
Many people are currently contributing their time and skills through a number of volunteer organisations.
An individual can develop both personally and professionally by volunteering. The benefits of credit union volunteering include:
- Gain skills and experience in a senior role of a financial service provider
- Education and training
- Personal development
- Meet new people from the community
- Work on developmental and business projects
- Give something back to the community
Don't think you have anything to offer?
Yes you have!! – Everyone has something to offer their credit union. You don’t need to be a financial expert. Talk to us and find out what your potential contribution could be.
Dunmanway Credit Union Limited encourages and supports the involvement of volunteers at all levels. As in any voluntary organisation the quality of service depends on the volunteers who run it, and the directors are constantly on the lookout for suitable candidates to help in the various committees.
Training is provided for anyone interested and people are able and encouraged to develop various skills.
The credit union committees offer an excellent starting point for new volunteers. These committees provide experience, learning and an active role within the credit union.
Once a volunteer has served the credit union at committee level for a period of time, and training needs have been identified and addressed, you can move into a director or board oversight position.
*The credit union has the right to refuse a person as a volunteer and where appropriate will give a reason for that refusal
